How do I choose between engineered timber and solid timber flooring?
Engineered timber is more stable in changing humidity and is better suited for concrete subfloors or underfloor heating, while solid timber offers the ability to sand and refinish more times over its life.

Yes — modern vinyl (and vinyl planks) are highly durable, water-resistant, and less prone to expansion or contraction than timber, making them well suited to both homes and commercial spaces in varying conditions.

With proper installation and maintenance, engineered timber can last for decades, sometimes 20–30 years or more depending on wear layer, while premium vinyl/plank flooring often carries warranties of 10–20 years in residential applications.
Often yes — provided the existing surface is level, dry, and structurally sound. Subfloor preparation is key. In many cases vinyl can be laid over existing floors; timber may require more care (moisture barrier, leveling, proper acclimatisation).
For timber: sweep or vacuum regularly, use a damp (not wet) mop, protect with felt pads under furniture, and avoid harsh chemicals. For vinyl: regular sweeping or vacuuming and occasional damp mopping with a mild cleaner; wipe up spills quickly.
